BuildHardware, on the roadmap.
Four devices designed around one idea: capture that is visible, gated, and never running on an associate’s own phone.
Roadmap only. Not a shipping product. Target availability [CONFIRM].
This is the published hardware roadmap, not a shipping product. None of the devices below are available to order today. Target availability: [CONFIRM]. Early programs run on issued devices agreed during scoping.
The SKUs
Four devices, one capture standard.
Gaincraft Pin
A worn badge for associates who move with the customer, from case to case and to the seating area.
- Magnetic clip, worn at the lapel
- Two-microphone array
- Twelve-hour gated runtime
- Dock charging, no cables at the counter
- Non-defeatable recording indicator
- No camera, ever
Target availability: [CONFIRM]
Gaincraft Counter
A fixed unit for positions where the conversation happens in one place.
- Fixed four-microphone array
- For dispensing tables, watch counters and F&I desks
- Mains powered, on the store network
- Zone-configured arming
- Non-defeatable recording indicator
- No camera, ever
Target availability: [CONFIRM]
Gaincraft Dock
Charging and offload for a full team, and the manager’s end-of-shift check.
- Eight bays
- Charges and offloads over the store network
- Per-bay status at a glance
- Doubles as the end-of-shift device count
- Sits behind the counter, out of customer view
Target availability: [CONFIRM]
Gaincraft Hub
An optional gateway for stores where the corporate network is restricted.
- Optional, only where needed
- For stores with restricted or segmented networks
- Single egress point for IT to whitelist
- No local retention of conversation audio
Target availability: [CONFIRM]
Why hardware
Four honest arguments for building devices.
Hardware is expensive and slow. These are the reasons we think it is unavoidable for this problem.
It removes the personal phone from the loop
Nothing installed on an associate’s own device. No app on a phone they bought, no battery drain they pay for, no ambiguity about what happens after their shift. This is the single largest source of associate objection, and hardware deletes it rather than arguing with it.
The device is a consent artifact, because visibility is a feature
A lit indicator on a visible badge is how a customer and an associate both know where they stand. Covert capture is not a capability we withheld; it is a capability the hardware does not have.
Capture quality binds the entire scoring pipeline
No model recovers a conversation that was never cleanly recorded. A four-microphone array at a watch counter is what makes diarization work when three people speak over each other, and everything downstream inherits that quality.
A dock behind the counter creates a daily ritual
Badges out at open, badges in at close. The manager counts eight bays. That thirty-second habit is what keeps a program alive in week twelve, and software has never managed to invent it.
Hardware is rented and bundled with the platform, never sold.
Technical detail
Specifications and commercial terms, in plain language
- Commercial model
- Hardware is rented and bundled with the platform. It is never sold. You do not carry a capital line for devices and you do not own a fleet that goes out of date.
- Camera
- No camera, ever. This is a specification line, not a marketing line. There is no optical sensor in any Gaincraft device.
- Recording indicator
- Driven from the capture path in hardware on Pin and Counter. It cannot be disabled in software, firmware settings or the dashboard.
- Arming conditions
- Inside rostered hours, on the registered store network, in a configured zone. All three must hold, enforced in firmware.
- Runtime and offload
- Pin is specified for twelve hours of gated runtime, which covers a full shift with headroom. Offload happens on the dock over the store network.
- Replacement and loss
- Rented fleets include replacement. A lost badge cannot capture, because it will not arm off the store network.
- Status
- Roadmap. Target availability [CONFIRM]. Nothing on this page is orderable today.
