Counter conversation intelligence

Your best associate,
at every counter.

Gaincraft captures in-store conversations with consent, coaches every associate daily, and shows leadership exactly where revenue is walking out the door.

Book a demo

No voiceprints, no cameras, consent-first by architecture. See the Trust Center.

Gaincraft editorial illustration showing the decisive conversation is the only retail asset left unmeasured.

The problem

Retail’s largest unmeasured asset is the conversation at the counter.

Every other line in the P&L is instrumented. The thirty minutes that decide the sale are not.

A district manager hears only a handful of conversations

Four stores, forty associates, thousands of conversations a month. A leader hears the few they happen to stand next to, and only those.

Top performers outsell average performers, consistently

In consultative retail the spread between the best seller and the median seller is wide, consistent, and driven by behaviors nobody has written down.

Mystery shopping samples one or two visits a month

It grades a staged visit against a checklist. It says nothing about the other real conversations, and associates know which visit is the test.

What Gaincraft does

Four steps, running every day the store is open.

Capture, understand, coach, prove. Nothing in the loop depends on a manager finding time to observe.

01

Capture with consent, at the counter, on issued hardware

A discreet counter unit issued and controlled by you. Visible customer notice, associate consent inside the employment relationship, and a capture log the store manager can see.

02

Understand every conversation against your own playbook

We encode your behaviors, not a generic template: how your brand frames budget, when the second item comes up, how coverage is explained. Transcription and diarization run on every conversation, not a sample.

03

Coach each associate the next morning in under two minutes

One prompt, one behavior, one clip from a top performer in the same store. It arrives before the floor opens and it names the dollars, not the score.

04

Prove the lift with a matched-cohort design your analytics team will accept

Coached and capture-only groups inside the same store, same manager, same season, swapped at 45 days. POS or CRM access is required, and we publish capture coverage every week.

The associate view

Coaching only works if the associate opens it.

Most sales coaching fails at delivery, not at analysis. Gaincraft is built backwards from the one moment that matters: a busy person, five minutes before the doors open, deciding whether to read this.

It leads with money, not with a score

A score invites an argument. A number invites a shrug. “Six customers were eligible for a second pair and you offered two” is a fact about the associate’s own paycheck, and it is the sentence that gets read on the drive in.

One behavior at a time, chosen for that person

Nobody improves at six things at once. The prompt names the single behavior with the largest gap between what the associate did and what the store’s best seller does, and it retires that behavior once the gap closes.

The example comes from the same floor

The clip is not a training actor. It is Marcus, two counters over, opening the second-pair conversation in twenty-two seconds. Peer proof is why the technique gets tried the same day.

Under two minutes, or it does not survive week three

Adoption is the whole game. Every coaching program dies in the third week when the novelty ends and the floor gets busy. The prompt is short, private to the associate and their manager, and it never asks them to log into anything new.

The manager view

One page, and the coaching conversation writes itself.

Store leaders get a weekly scorecard by associate and behavior, with one clip attached to every coachable moment.

Store by behavior, not store by revenue

Revenue tells a district leader which store is behind. The scorecard tells them which behavior is behind, in which store, for which associate.

Every number carries its evidence

A number without a twenty-second audio clip gets argued with. Each cell opens the conversations behind it, so the coaching conversation starts from the recording and not from a claim.

Trend over the quarter, not a weekly spike

Behaviors are tracked as rates over rolling windows. A good week is visible, a real change in habit is visible, and the difference between them is obvious.

Gaincraft editorial illustration showing matched cohorts inside one store prove coaching lift.

Proof design

Store versus store proves nothing. We prove it inside one store.

Two stores never share footfall, staffing or season. So the control group sits at the same counters as the test group.

Matched cohort

Illustrative

In a store with six associates, three receive coaching and three receive capture only for 45 days. Then the groups swap. Same footfall, same manager, same inventory, same season. Each associate serves as their own control across the two windows, which removes the objection that the coached group simply had a better half.

The requirement

Measuring lift requires transaction data. Gaincraft needs POS or CRM access for the pilot period, at associate and ticket level. We do not run pilots without it. A program that cannot be measured becomes a program that gets cancelled on a feeling.

Conversations scored

0%

Not a sample. Every eligible conversation on a capturing counter.

Cohort window

0 days

Then the coached and capture-only groups swap.

Capture coverage

Weekly

Published every week, so a thin week is visible before the readout.

Trust

The consent architecture came first. The product came second.

A luxury retailer cannot adopt anything that puts the customer relationship at risk. Neither can we.

Visible in-store notice

Every capturing counter carries a customer-facing notice. We ship the signage kit, in English and Spanish, sized for a counter card and a door decal.

Associate consent in the employment relationship

Consent is collected as part of onboarding, with plain language on what is captured, who sees it, and how it is used in coaching and review.

No voiceprints, ever

Gaincraft does not build biometric voice templates. Speaker identification is by seat and shift from the roster, which keeps the system outside biometric privacy statutes.

Audio auto-deletes on your retention window

You configure the window. Audio is destroyed on schedule; the behavior scores and the coaching history remain.

Industries

Built for the consultative sale.

High ticket, a real conversation, and a playbook worth coaching. Fine jewelry first, then the rest.

Compared to what you have now

Most of these are fine at their job. None of them coach the counter conversation.

Gaincraft sits alongside standards audit, training and store analytics. Here is the honest division of labor.

Mystery shopping

Coverage
One or two staged visits a month per store.
Evidence
A shopper’s written recollection, scored against a checklist.
Coaching loop
A report to the manager, weeks after the visit.
Cost posture
Low per store, and genuinely useful for standards audit. It was never built to coach individuals.

LMS and training platforms

Coverage
Every associate, on modules completed.
Evidence
Completion and quiz scores. No link to floor behavior.
Coaching loop
Scheduled curriculum, not tied to yesterday’s conversations.
Cost posture
Already owned in most retailers. Gaincraft feeds it rather than replacing it.

Store video analytics

Coverage
Every visitor, continuously.
Evidence
Traffic, dwell, queue and conversion. Strong at where people stood.
Coaching loop
Operational, aimed at staffing and layout, not at what was said.
Cost posture
Capital already installed. Silent on the content of the sale.

Field-sales conversation tools

Coverage
Every call or video meeting, for remote sellers.
Evidence
Transcript and talk-track analysis, mature and well proven.
Coaching loop
Rep and manager review, built around a CRM pipeline.
Cost posture
Priced per seat and effective on their turf. They do not capture a counter, a walk-around, or two people looking at a tray together.

Doing nothing

Coverage
Whatever a manager happens to overhear.
Evidence
Recollection and end-of-month numbers.
Coaching loop
Informal, dependent entirely on the individual manager.
Cost posture
No line item. The cost sits in the spread between your best seller and your median seller.

Gaincraft

Coverage
Every eligible conversation on a capturing counter.
Evidence
Transcript and audio clip behind every score.
Coaching loop
A daily prompt per associate, a weekly scorecard per manager.
Cost posture
Priced per capturing counter, proven on a 45-day matched cohort.

Integrations

Connected to the systems that hold the outcome.

Behavior data is only useful next to the transaction. These are the categories we integrate with.

POS and retail ERP

Ticket, line item and associate attribution, so a behavior can be tied to a sale.

CRM and clienteling

Customer history and follow-up tasks, so a promised call is verified rather than assumed.

DMS for automotive

Deal, gross and F&I detail for showroom and service drive conversations.

Practice management for optical

Exam and dispensing records for second-pair and lens-upgrade measurement.

HRMS for rostering

Shift and seat assignment, which is how Gaincraft identifies a speaker without voiceprints.

LMS for delivery

Coaching prompts and clips delivered inside the learning system your teams already use.

Built on a real corpus

Built at the counter, not in a lab.

50+

Languages supported

Including English, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese, Tamil and Malayalam.

The India corpus

The behavior taxonomy and the scoring models were not built in a lab. They were built on a conversation corpus from Indian premium retail, where the consultative sale is long, the ticket is high, and the gold counter runs on negotiation. This is the India corpus, and it is the only corpus the product has been built on to date.

Code-switching is the normal case

That is also why Gaincraft handles code-switched and multilingual conversations natively. A sentence that starts in one language and finishes in another is the normal case in our training data, not an edge case patched in later.

Why it matters on a US floor

This matters on a US floor. In jewelry, beauty and automotive, advisors and customers frequently do not share a first language, and the moment a conversation switches is often the moment a generic transcription model stops being useful.

The size of the corpus and the start date are published with the research methodology, on the research page, rather than as a cumulative figure here.
